Product description

DURAGRATE ® VE is a premium-quality molded fiberglass mesh grating panel manufactured using a vinyl ester resin system. It offers corrosion resistance, fire retardance, impact resistance, bidirectional load bearing, low electrical and thermal conductivity, and ease of installation. It is suited for industrial flooring, walkways, platforms, and trench covers in highly aggressive corrosive environments including chemical processing, pulp and paper, marine, and wastewater treatment applications.

Interpretation

The cradle-to-gate GWP of DURAGRATE ® VE is 3.68E+00 kg CO₂ eq per kg of declared product. Raw material extraction (A1) dominates at 85% of total GWP. Transport of raw materials (A2) contributes 2%. The manufacturing stage (A3) accounts for 13% of GWP, from electricity at the VA facility using the US-SERC grid. Acidification potential (AP) is 1.44E-02 mol H⁺ eq. Abiotic depletion potential for fossil resources (ADP-fossil) is 5.84E+01 MJ, NCV, reflecting the energy-intensive vinyl ester resin production process. Net water deprivation potential (WDP) is negative (−2.06E+00 m³ world eq.). Photochemical ozone creation potential (POCP) is 2.63E-02 kg NMVOC eq. Freshwater eutrophication potential (EP-fw) is 1.15E-03 kg P eq. No secondary materials or renewable secondary fuels are used in the production of this product.

LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
