Product description

EXTREN® SERIES 625 (1/8" or less in thickness) is a pultruded fiberglass product. It is produced with vinyl ester resin, in a standard beige color, designed for harsher corrosive environments, higher temperature applications, with improved fire performance. The thin-section variant is suited for structural framing and fabrication in chemically aggressive environments such as chemical processing, offshore, and wastewater treatment facilities where both superior corrosion resistance and flame spread performance are required. Product is manufactured at Strongwell's Bristol, Virginia facility. Although the product carries a warranty of 1 year, it is expected to last the lifetime of the structure on which it is installed.

Interpretation

The cradle-to-gate GWP of EXTREN® SERIES 625 (1/8" or less in thickness) is 3.68E+00 kg CO₂ eq per kg of declared product. Raw material extraction (A1) dominates at 85% of total GWP, primarily from vinyl ester resin and glass fiber production. Transport of raw materials (A2) contributes 3%. The manufacturing stage (A3) accounts for 12% of GWP. Acidification potential (AP) is 1.38E-02 mol H⁺ eq. Abiotic depletion potential for fossil resources (ADP-fossil) is 5.35E+01 MJ, NCV. Net water deprivation potential (WDP) is negative (−5.54E+00 m³ world eq.). Photochemical ozone creation potential (POCP) is 1.26E-02 kg NMVOC eq. Freshwater eutrophication potential (EP-fw) is 1.01E-03 kg P eq. No secondary materials or renewable secondary fuels are used in the production of this product.

LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
