Product description

EXTREN® SERIES 625 (3/16" or more in thickness) is a fire-retardant vinyl ester pultruded fiberglass structural shape and plate product. It is produced with premium vinyl ester resin with UV inhibitor and flame-retardant additives, in a standard beige color, designed for harsher corrosive environments, higher temperature applications, with improved fire performance. The thick-section variant is suited for heavy-duty structural support and load-bearing fabricated structures in highly corrosive industrial and offshore environments requiring both enhanced wall thickness and flame spread resistance.

Interpretation

The cradle-to-gate GWP of EXTREN® SERIES 625 (3/16" or more in thickness) is 3.79E+00 kg CO₂ eq per kg of declared product. Raw material extraction (A1) contributes 84% of total GWP, driven by vinyl ester resin and glass fiber reinforcement. Transport of raw materials (A2) contributes 3%. The manufacturing stage (A3) accounts for 13% of GWP, from electricity at the VA facility using the US-SERC grid. Acidification potential (AP) is 1.35E-02 mol H⁺ eq. Abiotic depletion potential for fossil resources (ADP-fossil) is 5.29E+01 MJ, NCV. Net water deprivation potential (WDP) is negative (−7.50E+00 m³ world eq.). Photochemical ozone creation potential (POCP) is 1.26E-02 kg NMVOC eq. Freshwater eutrophication potential (EP-fw) is 9.72E-04 kg P eq. No secondary materials or renewable secondary fuels are used in the production of this product.

LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
