Product description

This EPD hot rolled coil produced from steel slab melted and manufactured via Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology at JSW USA in Mingo Junction, Ohio and ATI's facility in Brackenridge ,Pennsylvania.

Hot rolled coil is manufactured to customer specification for a wide range of OEM and other applications including: construction, heavy equipment, yellow goods, mining, OEM heavy, agriculture frames, chassis, ground tools, tubing and hollow. Automotive structural, wheels, rims, brackets and mounts, requiring domestic production capability, specification compliance, and documented environmental performance.

Products are produced in accordance with applicable ASTM, ASME, API, DIN, SAE, JIS, and related customer specifications.

Environmental Product Declarations and product-level environmental data are available to support Buy America compliance documentation, Scope 2 reporting, Buy Clean requirements, LEED documentation, and ESG audit processes.

Interpretation

The contribution analysis indicates that the majority of the impacts occur because of raw materials (A1) and manufacturing (A3). An average of 81% (ranging from 74% - 90%) for A1 and an average of 18% (ranging from 10% - 26%) for A3 across all impact categories. Note that raw material transport in A2 accounts for an average of 0% (ranging from 0% - 1%) across all impact categories.

Note: A collection of manufacturer-average and/or facility-specific EPDs is insufficient for setting benchmarks and thresholds unless production volumes are taken into account. Benchmarking and threshold setting efforts shall also consider that some manufacturer-average data and facility-specific data may be represented in Industry-average EPDs and may result in double counting of the same data.

LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
