Product description
Roppe Gallant™ Multi-Use Flooring is a high-performance, homogeneous vulcanized rubber flooring tile designed for a variety of interior commercial and institutional applications, including sports, fitness, and educational environments. It is manufactured at Roppe’s facility in Tuscumbia, Alabama, USA.
The product features a hammered surface texture and is supplied without a factory-applied finish. Each tile has nominal dimensions of 24 inches × 24 inches (1/4 inch or 6.3 mm gauge), providing extra thickness for added durability, comfort, and impact absorption.
Gallant™ is offered exclusively in a palette of tonal marbleized colors, delivering subtle visual depth and design versatility appropriate for a wide range of high-performance spaces.
The product conforms to ASTM F1344 – Standard Specification for Rubber Floor Tile (Type I, Grade 1, Class B), and meets a broad range of industry standards for performance, including:
ASTM E648 – Critical Radiant Flux (Class I, ≥ 0.45 W/cm²)
ASTM D2047 – Static Coefficient of Friction (≥ 0.50)
ASTM F970 – Static Load Resistance (≤ 0.005 in indentation at 250 psi and 1,100 psi modified)
ASTM F925, F2199, D3389, and others for chemical resistance, dimensional stability, and abrasion resistance
Athletic flooring performance metrics including ASTM F2772, F2569, F2117, F2157, and E303
Gallant™ also contributes to building certification programs, with the following certifications and attributes:
NSF/ANSI 332 Level 1, FloorScore, CA Section 01350, and CHPS compliance
Red List Free, with no substances from the Living Future Institute’s Red List, REACH SVHC Candidate List, or REACH Annex XVII
Recyclable through the Roppe Impact Program
The product is intended for indoor use only, suitable for areas with in-floor radiant heating, and is available with a 5-year limited commercial warranty for athletic applications and a 10-year warranty for general use. Product mass and density are determined per square meter in accordance with applicable product category rules.
Interpretation
The results of the LCA indicate that Replacement (B4) is the largest contributor to impacts of each product assessed in this study, across all impact categories. This is due to the fact that 1.88 installations are required within the service lifetime of the building of 75 years. Raw Materials (A1) contribute to the second largest portion of impacts across most indicators. The materials of fossil origin, such as styrene butadiene rubber is the primary driver of impacts within Module A1.
LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
