Product description

This Environmental Product Declaration covers Superflor II modular carpet on CQuest™ Bio backing with a mix of yarn, 70% Solution Dyed Nylon, 20% Polyester, 10% Polypropylene. The half-product is manufactured externally. The half cloth is transported to Interface, Scherpenzeel, Netherlands to be manufactured in 1 m2 carpet tile. The products yarn weight is 521 gsm.

Interpretation

The life cycle impacts of Interface modular carpet flooring with carbon negative CQB backing is driven by the Product Stage (A1-A3). Raw materials like yarn comprise the majority of the potential impacts. The increased inclusion of biobased, recycled and carbon captured materials help in reducing the impacts as compared to virgin petrochemical-based materials. Interface is 'all in' on achieving its SBTi goal of being carbon negative by 2040 without offsets and prioritizes product innovations that reduce impacts.

LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
