Product description

Fiberglass acoustical ceiling panel. 1” Decoustics Claro Lay-In is a cost-effective ceiling tile with an acoustically transparent finish that mimics the appearance of drywall/plaster.

The default RSL of 30 years was used based on PCR guidance.

Interpretation

Based on the results from the life cycle assessment, the life cycle impacts are strongly driven by the raw material and manufacturing processes. These two stages account for 80%-99% of the impact across the environmental indicators. Identifying alternate uses or recycling options for the product at the end of its useful life will reduce the end-of-life and potential raw materials burdens of recycled products. If possible, incorporating more recycled content into the product will help reduce the environmental impacts of the raw materials stage in the life cycle of the product. Fiberglass core, Electricity, and Natural Gas were the highest contributors towards the GWP-Total impact, accounting for roughly 77% of the overall impact.

LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
