Product description
2" Decoustics Clean-Air Claro® Baffle provides an low VOC acoustical ceiling solution to reduce the sound reverberation and increase sound clarity. It mimics the finish look of drywall/plaster and is primarily used in commercial settings.
The default RSL of 30 years was used based on PCR guidance.
Interpretation
Based on the results from the life cycle assessment, the life cycle impacts are strongly driven by the raw material and manufacturing processes. These two stages account for 80%-98% of the impact across the environmental indicators. Identifying alternate uses or recycling options for the product at the end of its useful life will reduce the end-of-life and potential raw materials burdens of recycled products. If possible, incorporating more recycled content into the product will help reduce the environmental impacts of the raw materials stage in the life cycle of the product. Fiberglass core, Aluminum, and Electricity were the highest contributors towards the GWP-Total impact, accounting for roughly 64% of the overall impact.
LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
