Product description

KEY #468-HS is a two component, chemical resistant, UV light resistant, ultra high solids aliphatic polyurethane high performance coating. KEY #468-HS is a low VOC, compliant urethane that meets all federal and state environmental air quality standards. The high gloss finish offers superior abrasion resistance, chemical and stain resistance. KEY #468-HS is ideal for concrete floors and walls in warehouses, storage facilities, aircraft hangars, animal housing, restrooms, vehicle maintenance facilities, and numerous other applications. Available in clear with optional pigment packs, KEY #468-HS can be used as a finish coating option for most Key Resin Systems. Optional Key HTS Additive for use in high traffic/high wear

applications.

Interpretation

Raw materials are sourced from suppliers, transported to manufacturing facilities, and mixed to produce products. The product stage (A1-A3) drives the environmental impact, due to raw material production and energy use. These impacts are amplified in the use phase due to recoatings, making B4 the largest contributor to the overall impact. Market and Technical service life scenarios differ depending on assumed estimated service life (ESL), with lower impacts for longer-lived products. Those scenarios are constructed using PCR prescriptions that are highly conservative, as they assume the replacement of the full coating system. End-of-life impacts are relatively low, as products are assumed to be landfilled with building demolition waste. Switching to renewable energy is advised for products with high manufacturing energy demands. The manufacturer should explore lower-impact raw materials and work with suppliers using sustainable methods or renewable energy to enhance product sustainability.\

LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
