Interpretation

When evaluating the TRACI 2.2 impact categories specifically for the represented product, the production (A1-A3) stage is the primary driver of impacts of global warming potential, ozone depletion, and freshwater eutrophication primarily due to steel and zinc components in the product’s composition. The product distribution phase is the driver of acidification, marine eutrophication, and photochemical oxidation formation due to fuel combustion air emissions during transportation.

LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
