Product description
Flexco EnviroFlex™ is a smooth-surfaced, homogeneous vulcanized rubber flooring product manufactured under the Flexco® brand. It is available in both sheet and tile formats and is designed for permanent flooring installations in commercial and institutional environments.
Sheet format: 74-inch by 50-foot rolls (0.100-inch gauge)
Tile format: 24-inch by 24-inch tiles (0.100-inch gauge)
EnviroFlex™ features a flecked tonal rubber chip design available in a versatile color palette, offering aesthetic flexibility suitable for high-traffic environments. Engineered for durability and dimensional stability, it performs well under heavy foot traffic and rolling loads.
The product is composed of homogeneous vulcanized rubber and conforms to:
ASTM F1344 – Standard Specification for Rubber Floor Tile (tile format)
ASTM F1859 – Standard Specification for Rubber Sheet Floor Covering Without Backing (sheet format)
These standards define requirements for dimensional stability, flexibility, and chemical resistance.
The formulation of EnviroFlex™ is screened against multiple authoritative chemical hazard lists. It contains no substances listed on the Living Future Institute’s Red List (Living Building Challenge, Imperative 10), the REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs), or REACH Annex XVII restricted substances.
The product’s mass and density are determined based on the total material required to produce one square meter of installed flooring, in accordance with applicable product category rules.
Interpretation
The results of the LCA indicate that Replacement (B4) is the largest contributor to impacts of each product assessed in this study, across all impact categories. This is due to the fact that 1.88 installations are required within the service lifetime of the building of 75 years. Raw Materials (A1) contribute to the second largest portion of impacts across most indicators. The materials of fossil origin, such as styrene butadiene rubber is the primary driver of impacts within Module A1.
LCIA results are relative expressions and do not predict impacts on category endpoints, the exceeding of thresholds, safety margins or risks. EPDs are comparable only when they follow the same PCR, functional unit and system boundary. The full EPD (PDF) contains the methodology, scenario assumptions and verification statement.
